How to Use ChatGPT to Improve Your Therapy Booking Page (Jane App Marketing Hack)
I had one of those "why didn't I think of this sooner?" moments this week.
Like most therapists, I've spent countless hours tweaking my website. I've rewritten my homepage more times than I can count. I've obsessed over my About page, service pages, and even my SEO.
But somehow...
I completely overlooked one of the last pages a potential client reads before deciding whether or not to book.
Your online booking page.
Whether you use Jane, another EHR, or an online scheduling platform, your booking page isn't just an administrative tool.
It's marketing.
And it might be one of the most overlooked pieces of your client experience.
I personally use Jane in my practice and their integrated booking page has been a game changer but you could apply this to any EHR that has a booking page that allows editing to services/descriptions!
Your Booking Page Is Still Selling Your Services
Think about your own client journey.
A potential client finds your website, they spend time reading about your approach, they decide they like what they see.
They click Book Now (yay!)
And then...
They're greeted with a list of appointment types and service descriptions.
This is one of the final decision points before someone commits to working with you.
If those descriptions are vague...
If they're written in therapist language instead of client language...
Or if every service sounds the same...
You've created unnecessary friction at the exact moment someone was ready to book. And if there is any friction, they jump off your page thinking “I’ll do this later” and spoiler alert..they don’t.
Most therapists write these descriptions once and never think about them again.
The ChatGPT Prompt That Completely Changed How I Look at My Booking Page
This week I copied every one of my booking descriptions into ChatGPT.
Then I asked one simple question.
Pretend you're my ideal client.
Review these booking descriptions.
Tell me:
• Which descriptions are confusing?
• Which would make you want to book?
• Which don't clearly explain who they're for?
• Rewrite them using language my ideal client would naturally connect with while keeping my brand voice.
The feedback surprised me, honestly!
Not because my descriptions were terrible, but because I realized I'd been writing like a therapist.
Not like someone trying to help a nervous client feel confident clicking "Book."
Your Booking Descriptions Should Do More Than Explain a Service
Every booking description should answer three questions almost immediately.
Who is this for?
Clients should instantly recognize themselves, not wonder if they're in the right place.
What problem does this solve?
People don't usually book therapy because they're looking for a 90-minute intake.
They book because they're overwhelmed.
Anxious.
Burned out.
Traumatized.
Your descriptions should speak to those experiences.
Why should I choose this instead of the other options?
If someone has three different appointment types to choose from...
Can they confidently tell the difference?
Or are they guessing?
Removing confusion removes hesitation.
My Favorite Unexpected Benefit
This might have been my favorite part.
Making my descriptions clearer didn't just help the right clients.
It also helped the wrong clients realize they probably weren't in the right place.
That's a good thing.
Not every service is for everyone.
The more clearly you explain who a service is for, the fewer awkward consult calls you'll have with people who were never the right fit to begin with. I’ve had too many consult calls where a few minutes in I can tell they did not read my website and are looking for therapy that does not meet my approach at all.
Clear marketing isn't about attracting everyone, it's about helping the right people confidently say yes.
Your Booking Page Is One of the Last Pieces of Marketing Your Clients Read
This realization completely shifted my perspective.
I used to think of my booking page as "the place where people schedule."
Now I think of it as "The final opportunity to reassure someone they're exactly where they need to be."
Every word matters and every description matters.
Because by the time someone reaches your booking page...
They're incredibly close to saying yes.
Don't make them work harder than they need to. Make this feel like the obvious choice for them.
The Exact ChatGPT Prompt I Used
Copy your booking descriptions into ChatGPT (or Claude) and use this prompt:
Pretend you're my ideal client.
Review these booking descriptions.
Tell me:
• Which descriptions are confusing?
• Which would make you book immediately?
• Which don't clearly communicate who they're for?
• Rewrite them using language my ideal client would naturally understand.
• Suggest improvements that make each service easier to choose.
• Point out any places where therapist jargon could be replaced with client-friendly language.
Then compare your old descriptions with the new ones.
You'll probably notice opportunities you never would have caught on your own.
The EHR I use in my practice
This strategy came from using Jane's online booking page because it is so so customizable and easy to set up exactly how you want.
One of the features I've come to appreciate most is being able to customize each service description so clients understand exactly what they're booking before scheduling.

Wrapping up
Sometimes improving your marketing doesn't require a new website.
Or another certification.
Or another social media strategy.
Sometimes it's simply looking at the pages your clients are already reading through fresh eyes.
Your booking page isn't just where appointments happen, it's where decisions happen.
Make those decisions easier.
